Not as dark as Italian, this roast is a good all day coffee.  A different blend of coffees from the Italian Roast gives this blend a taste that is rich and full bodied without the traditional burnt aftertaste common to many French Roasts. The flavor is dominated by the smoky taste of oily, ebony colored beans.
